Life's a Climb but the view is great...

Watched Hannah Montana the movie last night, DVD of course, hehe... my niece so wanna watch this movie, so I just bought her the dvd instead of bringing her to the cineplex. Movies like this are not worth spending extra bucks on movie tickets and popcorn methinks :)

Anyway, I'm not a fan of Miley Cyrus or Hannah Montana (I like the bestfriend character of Lily better) but I like this song at the end of the movie. Life is a pain in the ass, a struggle, but in the end somehow it was all worth it... Hmm...doesn't it contrast with 'Life's a journey, not the destination that matters'???

The Climb lyrics
(Songwriters: Alexander, J; Mabe, J)

I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody's gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

Frozen Flowers, My Wife Got Married, Naked Kitchen

Watched 3 Korean movies yesterday (thanks to fast forward button), which mostly convey the issue of loyalty and infidelity, trust and betrayal, love and jealousy...

The Naked Kitchen
She grew up alongside him, who always cared for and protected her. She married him. She never knew another man apart from him. Years after marriage, she met this guy and he kissed her. She said he tasted strange, it makes her wonder... It doesn't make matter easier when the guy is none other than the guy her husband asked to move in with them to help him with his new restaurant business. So, does she truly love her husband? or does she feel only indebted and grateful? IDK, I don't understand the ending....

My Wife Got Married

Haha... If man can be in love with 2 persons at the same time and can have a life together with those 2 persons also at the same time, why can't a woman? That's what she questioned and tried. If this is real, what a wonderful, rare, special woman she must have been for two men to go along with her ways. Then, trouble abounds when she's pregnant, who is the biological father? She wouldn't go along with DNA testing when her daughter is born, for to do that will alienate one of the guys. But really, will the ego of men can sustain all this?

Frozen Flower

I can't remember my first notice of Jo Jin Moo, is it 200 Pounds of Beauty or is it Fashion 70's? He's not such a great actor per se, but there's just something about him....hmmmm, maybe potential to be the next Jang Dong Gun? Then, there's Jo In Sung, i'm kinda like him after Memories of Bali, such a pathetic poor soul he potrayed there. Anyway, was excited when i saw the poster of this movie, can't wait for the dvd to be available or maybe for it to be at mysoju...

Sigh! That's why you shouldn't put your expectation to high, cause when reality landed the distance was great and you hurt your bottom tremendously (haha... too much Anne Shirley). When I saw the picture I thought at first, like usual the girl came in between the two leading man. It's a love triangle alright but it's In Sung's character that was pulled in both direction. Oh yeah! viewers should bear in mind that the story is purely fictional.

The Goryeo's King (Joo Jin Mo) was under pressure by the China's Yuan Dynasty to produce an heir, or else the Yuan Dynasty will appoint a crown prince of their own for Goryeo. The Goryeo King do have a lovely queen and several concubines but none of them are producing as he never touched them; he swings in another direction. The love of his life ever since he was just a young prince is none other than his chief bodyguard Hong Lim (Jo In Sung).
Alas, what else is there for him to do, he cannot perform with a woman and no one he can trust more than Hong Lim, so he the king orders Hong Lim to sleep with his wife - the queen (Song Ji Hyo). This idea is based on his assumption that all his political problems will go away once there is a royal son.

Hong Lim who never knew any bed partner except for his king, founds himself totally enslaved by the Queen's charms. Oh yeah, they were both feeling dreadful and hesitant at first, but after the 2nd or is it the 3rd bedding ritual, the attraction was more than they could resist.

Love triangle established, the plot sprints ahead with a portrayal of the uncontrollable anger and jealousy of the king, leaving heads rolling in the process. I think Hong Lim was only being dutiful and loyal to his King from the start as opposed to having any real romantic feeling. Hong is a mere subordinate, while the king has all the power, including the right to order his death. The queen, for her part, discovers the liberating exhilaration when she falls in love with Hong Lim after years of neglect and inattention. She suffers a deep sense of guilt initially but she finds herself indulging in the dangerous liaisons with Hong Lim.

I do like the storyline in a sense, but the movie would have been better where there is more 'feeling' potrayed rather than 'action'; I want more emotional-thoughtful state of the parties involved! JJM showed better acting than Jo In Sung with his popped vein and all; JIS is like a beautiful robot who showed no feelings. How much does Song Ji Hyo get paid for this movie I wonder, will this brought forward more movie offers or repulsed the audience of her acting, *shrug* doesn't matter, never really like her anyway before (not that I dislike her, just 'not' like). So the movie was first Brokeback Mountain and turned into star-crossed lover alike Romeo and Juliet, doomed to end tragically.....

In Life and Death

It's been 3 mths since I last blogged about korean drama that I had watched! Wow! Does that mean that in these 3 mths I had not watched from start to finish a single drama???? Well, I can blame it on the long winded East of Eden...been checking the cd-shops for East of Eden Vol.3 but so far in vain. Last week then I found Kingdom of The Winds Vol.1 and bought it without hesitation! Hah...let the other movies, dramas, novels collecting dust... 2 episodes remain for me to watch. Hmmm...gonna drop by the nearest cd shop later to check if Vol.2 is already on sale ^_^

Love the soundtrack! haha... I like korean sad love song, eventhough the lyrics are simple but the sad melody just touch ur heart

Doa Ku

Tuhanku
Seandainya telah engkau catatkan
Dia menjadi milik ku
Tercipta buat ku
Dekatkan lah dirinya dengan diri ku.

Tuhanku
Jika dia ditakdirkan bukan milik ku
Tidak tercipta buat ku
Bawalah dia jauh dari pandangan ku
Lapuk dari ingatan ku
Peliharalah diri ku daripada rasa kecewa
Berilah aku kekuatan
Meski pun tanpa diri nya

Tetapi Tuhan ku
Seandainya dia ditakdirkan untuk ku
Ku pohon agar Engkau sentiasa memperkuatkan cinta nya
Sebagaimana kuatnya aku mencintainya.

Amin.

In response to my friend's latest post ^_^ This is a poem I copied from my fren back in high school which she got from a magazine. I like it. It was simple and straightforward, if he/she was not meant for you; move on - lots of fish in the sea.

But I wonder...what if; he loves her and she loves him but circumstances/events are not in favour of them being together? Should they hold on tight and fight? Or just let go........?

He's Just Not That Into You

Bought the dvd somewhere around last week but hasn't got the inclination yet to watch it until today. This multiple-couple-love-life story is not my kind of thing, it's just not too deep, for they had to divide around 1.5 hrs to tell 5 different stories.

Well, the movie started with the narration of how the female of the species lies to each other and themselves to avoid stating and seeing the painful truth since the moment they are born. Owh...if you haven't seen this movie but planning to, don't proceed any further - cause spoiler ahead!!!!

First Story: Anna (Scarlett Johansson) bumped into Ben (Bradley Cooper) at the supermarket and sparks fly, the problem is he's already married. At first I like him, cause no matter how much he lust after the beautiful sexy Anna, he summons all his will power to resist her. But a man's will power is not that strong to resist a sexy girl who's also into him. Get this, he said he was never ready to marry Janine (Jennifer Connely) in the first place, and was forced between marrying her, or breaking up with her. Hulllloooooo! You can't dance and you blame it on the uneven floor? If you think she is not the person you wanna commit your lifetime to, then break up, move on, are your backbone so weak that you allowed yourself to be forced? So whose fault was that?
I also don't get Janine who can forgive her husband for cheating on her, but she can't stand it when she found out the lies about the cigarettes? Well, maybe the lying was the last straw that drove her to ask for divorce.
And this Anna-b^*%# she knows he's married and yet she's willing to break another's heart just so she can have her happy ending. She said “What if you meet the love of your life? Are you suppose to let that pass you by?” If he's already married or committed to another person, YES!!!! Serve you right to be hiding in the Ben's office's closet when Janine drops by to 'surprise' her husband in her attempt to salvage her marriage.
Second Story: While in her secret affair with Ben, Anna is also 'dangling' Conor on the other hand, her spare part whenever her love life is brining her down. So when Conor wants to get really serious, then she tells him she's not into him as he was with her so they break-up, but both are happy just to remain friends.
Third Story: Meanwhile, Anna's friend Mary (Drew Barrymore) is a newspaper editor who also helps Conor promote his real-estate business. She goes on many dates but all ending unsuccessfully. After Anna and Conor end their relationship, Mary runs into Conor having coffee and introduces herself to him as he had only ever spoken to her over the phone and never seen her in person. They both hit it off, and begin dating.
Fourth Story: Another girl that Conor (Kevin Connolly) dated before but wasn't interested in because he was still hanged up on Anna, was Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin). He said he like her and promised to call her but never did so Gigi tracks him down to his favourite bar. There she met Alex (Justin Long) the owner of the bar and Conor's bestfriend. She begins getting dating advice from the romantic and promiscuous Alex. Alex tells Gigi that Conor simply wasn't interested in her since he hasn't called, otherwise he would have definitely made a move. He also tells her that she should stop thinking that she is an exception to this rule, and to stop obsessing over every "sign" that she might pick up on during a date. Gigi proceeds to go on several unsuccessful dates, often calling Alex during dates for advice. Gigi starts believing that Alex is interested in her because he is so willing to take a call from her (even when he's busy at work, or is with a girl). So when Alex invited her to his house party and she ended up being a co-host she becomes more sure. Alex was surprised when she jumped his bone then and there....and very frustrated, she was not listening to his dating advice at all. He wasn't interested in her romantically, and if he was he would've pursued her. So Gigi stops contacting him from that night then he realised he got it bad for her. Men are just dumb, they just don't know what they want until its gone. So he went to apologize to her and tell her that she is his exception (Schweeet)
Fifth Story: Beth (Jennifer Aniston), is living with her boyfriend Neil (Ben Affleck),with whom she has been with for seven years. Although Beth wants to get married, Neil does not believe in signing a piece of paper to say you love someone. When her younger sisiter are getting married and listening to Gigi's theory about relationshiop, Beth becomes upset and starts thinking about her relationship with Neil. She arrives home and asks Neil if he'll ever marry her; when he doesn't respond, Beth breaks up with him. Neil moves out to live in his boat while Beth goes home to see her family and to be a bridesmaid at her younger sister's wedding. During the reception, Beth's father has a heart attack. So during her time of need -when all her sisters husband do are watch football, make a mess, and are not concerned at all about their father in-law - Nick showed up and be there for her. Beth realised then being married doesn't guarantee anything. Its the commitment that the person you are with that matters, not the marriage certificate. So Beth went to him and tell him she wants him back in hislife marriage or no-marriage. But Neil ended up kneeling down asking her to marry him anyway, telling her that for him to be happy then Beth needs to be happy (Schweeter!)

I know its already obvious but I wanna state it anyway, I like story 4 & 5. Hah! I know it goes against my determination that to be happy, then don't let someone else be a factor to that... but now that I reflect on it, is that really possible? Wouldn't that make you selfish and coldhearted?

Star Trek : The Future Begins (5)

Was watching this movie with my sister and brother last Tuesday night. I was not expecting much since I'm not a Star Trek's fan; went along cause I didn't want to dissapoint my brother. So I'm not familiar with all Star Trek lingos - wrap, thrust, Klingons, Federation etc etc... but surprisingly the story was easy enough to understand even for an alien of Star Trek like me.

The beginning of the movie when the USS Kelvin (if i'm not mistaken) was attacked and Captain George Kirk send his heavily pregnant wife to evacuate the starship via shuttle craft, I was sms-ing with a collegue so it's just "hmmm....this wife of his look familiar tapi sapa ah?" and then when she was going through labour and the camera was focused on her face then its clicked! Those eyes... Dr.Cameron (Jennifer Morrison) from House M.D. Then in the middle of the movoe where they are introducing scene by scene the Enterprise crew members, I recognised another face instantly from House. He was just a guest star for the TV series but I remembered him being the masochist that was "disinherit" by his parents because he embarass them. I'm into House M.D these days, bought the dvd for Season 1 and 4, the part where he's just starting with new teams. I don't know which character intrigue me more, Wilson? Cameron? Kutner? 13?
And well, who wouldn't recognise Zachary Quinto from Heroes? He is really suitable as Spock. I hate Sylar in Season 1 of Heroes for there he's just a simple serial murderer. But then in the following seasons he started to have humanity beneath his evilness, so getting interesting. If no more Zachary Quinto in the next Heroes's season I might stop being follower...
So all and in all, maybe its the simple storyline that I like combine with interesting characters with their slapstick dry humour. It made me tempted to search for all Star Trek movies or TV series that gotta to do with USS Enterprise.

The Road Not Taken

The Road Not Taken
A Poem by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

I like poem. It was so vague that it can be intrepreted into many meanings. Heard a snippet of this poem in the tv show 'Are You Smarter Than 5th Grader?' and was interested to know more. I think its the last paragraph that pique my interest "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by". Lives are all about choices and oppurtunity cost (keluar economic ku tarus). In this poem the writer dared to be different and choose the path that seldom people had chosen.

My intrepretation for the third paragraph, he said he would try the other path (the other choice) another time but though deep inside he knows there's no turning back. So the poem in one hand told us to be brave and take the risk, not just following the herd, or go with the flow. In a deeper level, you might do a u-turn and take the other option, but its just won't be the same as it would have been if you had taken it the first time around. It does not moralize about the choice you made, it simply says that choice is inevitable but you never know what your choice will mean until you have lived it.
